I was so intrigued by the poster I went along (around 1999). the artist has been documenting the festival since 2014, capturing the unexpected driving artwork, as well as the passionate creators. but also the old saying seems to hold true ‘knowledge in all areas, master of none’. I felt the title mixed messages should be mixed up. I liked the idea of one poster being simpler and the other more complex. otherwise we don’t really need designers, anyone can buy the same software and do reasonable work. the illustrated elements in the poster are by ola carson. I think overall designers today have gotten lazy, and let the programs and computers make too many decisions for them. one does not change another designer’s work. I’m sure I chuckled a bit, then thought, well, why not?
